How you view the site will very much depend on whether you are viewing SidebarOfShame.com on desktop and tablet device, or a mobile.
For those of you on desktop or tablet, you will notice four large ‘sidebars’ each with their own niche subject. Each sidebar contains more than one niche which you will notice when scrolling through. These niche’s change depending on what is currently trending. For example Sidebar 2 may contain Love Island content whilst it is on TV but will be less prominent when America’s Got Talent or Strictly Come Dancing are on, in most cases Love Island will be moved lower down with the latter replacing its position.
Mobile users will find it’s practically just one big long sidebar of shame! You only have to scroll as all sidebars are joined into one. The niche’s still exist and are still titled for your user experience.
Regardless of which device you use, if your thumb or finger can’t face the prospect of scrolling right back to the top, don’t worry, there is a neat little pink arrow which when clicked will take you back there.
We don’t use an auto-refresh system as that’s just annoying so we recommend you refresh yourself every 5 minutes or so… if you’re phone doesn’t leave your hand of course.
By clicking on any link or image that is of interest to you, it will take you to the headline page, there, you can easily click on the READ MORE link which will then take you to the website that published the story in full. This will be in a new tab so you can easily return to SidebarofShame to find more, or other stories that peak your interest.
If you’re not a fan of scrolling through a niche that isn’t of interest then you will find our pages very useful. These are accessible from the main menu and once clicked, will provide just a list of all the latest news for the one chosen. Hollywood for example, will show only the latest from our Hollywood publishers, likewise for the MAFS (Married At First Sight) page.
You may on occasion find the odd few that slip through our net so it’s entirely possible you will find a Sports news article on TV/Showbiz. It’s a tough one to solve as it’s usually the publisher who has decided to add a Sports story to their Showbiz page. If we spot them quickly enough we do swap them around but as mentioned, they should be few and far between.
You will likely find a number of TV shows, or maybe the latest celebrity gossip on a movie star isn’t on here yet. The truth is there are so many celebrities to keep track of, on top of TV shows, which means we’re constantly adding more pages. We’ll do what we can to add as much as we can but if for any reason you’re desperate to have a certain TV show or anything similar listed on SidebarOfShame then please contact us. If we get enough requests we’ll get it added ASAP.
A small note on advertising. We probably hate them as much as you do but unfortunately they are needed to make a living in the online industry. We’ll endeavour to keep them on a low burner so you don’t see them every five scrolls. The best thing you can do as a user or fan of SidebarOfShame would be to tell all your friends and family about us. The more visitors we get, the fewer ads we can potentially show to you.
One final thing, enjoy the website. It’s supposed to be fun and tongue in cheek. There will be lots you will very interested in, and probably quite a bit you are not. We truly hope you enjoy your time with us.
